Mapping the World (for Freedom) – Update

My almost only reader (besides the GoolgeBot) gave me two very interesting links on OSM.

The first one (in german) shows some comparsions of places mapped in OSM and GoogleMaps, it is pretty much subjective but it shows the capabilities of OSM nicely.

The second one goes even one step further and shows both, OSM and GoogleMaps as two transparent layers for a direct comparsion the whole world.

Mapping the World (for Freedom)

I saw a video on ZDF-mediathek the other day. It was about a project, called openStreetMap.org (OSM). I am always interested in things like maps and GPS so I payed attention.
The project has the goal to map the world (again) and to present it.  But it is not that much like, say, GoogleMaps or LiveMaps. Read more »
